Court Operations During COVID-19 Outbreak
March 13, 2020
The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California continues to closely monitor the national and local response to the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). We will be following guidance provided by the Administrative Office of the United States Courts and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), available at www.cdc.gov(link is external). All divisions of the Court will be operating and holding hearings as usual but will conduct as many as possible telephonically. Telephonic appearance rules have been relaxed but evidentiary hearings will still need to be in person. Please consult the individual judge’s instructions on our website for call-in instructions: https://www.cacb.uscourts.gov/judges/judge-directory.
Please note the telephone number for CourtCall, the Court’s telephonic provider, is (866) 582-6878. CourtCall is offering discounted rates to attorneys through April 30, 2020 and FREE access for parties who do not have an attorney (pro se parties). Review the Telephonic Instruction tab on each judges’s webpage for specific instructions: https://www.cacb.uscourts.gov/judges/judge-directory.
All divisions are OPEN and available for filing pleadings, but attorneys must use the court’s electronic filing procedures and other parties may utilize our electronic self-represented petition filing software for Chapter 7, https://www.cacb.uscourts.gov/esr, and may mail pleadings. Any future changes or updates will be posted on the Court's website and communicated as appropriate.

U.S. Trustee Program Extends Telephonic or Video Section 341 Meetings To Cases Filed Through October 10, 2020

The U.S. Trustee Program is extending the requirement that section 341 meetings be conducted by telephone or video appearance to all cases filed through October 10, 2020. However, if the responsible U.S. Trustee or case trustee determines that an in-person examination of the debtor is required to ensure the completeness of the meeting or protection of estate property, the U.S. Trustee may approve the continuation of the section 341 meeting to an in-person meeting in a manner that complies with local public health guidance.
The Trustee conference lines and participant codes for the 341(a) Meetings of Creditors, along with dial-in information for each division, is available on the Court’s website.
Please contact the Office of the U.S. Trustee via telephone at (213) 894-6811 or via email(link sends e-mail) if you have any questions.
